Admission into Year 7
Calderstones has an admission number of 265 students in Year 7 each year. For the past decade-plus, the school has been heavily over-subscribed on entry to Year 7 and there is always a significant waiting list of students wishing to join us.
Because Calderstones is a maintained school, the City Council’s Admissions Team allocates these places to the school.

The key dates for those students who are due to start secondary school in September 2025 are as follows:
- 1st September 2024 - Online applications open.
- 31st October 2024 - Closing date for applications.
- November 2024 to February 2025 - The local authority coordinates admission arrangements with schools and neighbouring local authorities to allocate places.
- 1st March 2025 - Offer emails and letters sent to parents on national offer day.
- April to June 2025 - The Admission appeals process opens.
- 3rd July 2025 - Liverpool secondary schools' induction day.
