The Quarrymen were the band performing with John Lennon on Saturday 6th July 1957 – the day John met Paul McCartney. Almost 70 years on, the Quarrymen return to Quarry Hall - John’s school, their namesake, and the first stage they played - to celebrate the most momentous day in music history with an exclusive Q&A and live performance!

Friday 17 November 2023 Tidy Calderstones 2023 - Experience Guarantee As part of our exciting extra-curricular initiative 'Calderstones Experience Guarantee', Year 8 and Year 9 will be taking part in a social responsibility project to tidy Calderstones Park. Inspired by local litter-picking group the Penny Lane Wombles, approximately 520 students will help tidy the park in the build up to Christmas. If each managed to pick up just three pieces of litter, this would be over 1500 pieces of litter cleared in total!

Thursday 19 October 2023 Calderstones Shortlisted for Educate Health and Wellbeing Award 2023 On Thursday 28th September, we celebrated the official opening of our Wellbeing Hub with ribbon cutting by Jake Mills of ‘Chasing the Stigma’. We also were over the moon to discover Calderstones has been shortlisted as finalists for the Educate Health and Wellbeing Award!

Wednesday 15 June 2022 Year 8 Youth Social Action Summer Project As part of the Year 8 youth Social Action summer project, all 265 students baked and sold items as part of their fundraiser bake Sale. The students choose a local Charity called "An Hour for Others" and raised nearly £500. Today the year 8 leadership team presented the money to the Charity.

Wednesday 15 June 2022 EY STEM App Calderstones has been lucky to be selected as one of the first schools in the UK to trial the new EY STEM App, EY STEM App is an innovative gamified mobile platform for girls aged 13-18 that aims to identify, inspire and empower the next generation of girls in STEM to create a more equal future. The program was successfully piloted for 7000+ girls across New Delhi, Seattle and Atlanta and is now being scaled globally for 100,000 girls by June 2022 in line with our commitment to impact One Billion Lives by 2030. The platform is free of cost and aims to impact out-of-school learning.

Friday 12 November 2021 International Slavery Museum Project The International Slavery Museum and Calderstones students collaborated on a project that focused on the street names in Liverpool that had links to the slave trade. Students had to research the history of the street names and then present their findings to their peers and members of the museum using whatever medium they felt comfortable with. These presentations will now be used for educational purposes and as part of a display within the International Slavery Museum.
