Admissions

Admission into Year 7

Calderstones has an admission number of around 265 students in Year 7 each year. For the past 10 years, the school has been oversubscribed on entry to Year 7 and there is always a significant waiting list of students wishing to join us.

Because Calderstones is a maintained school, these places are allocated to the school by the City Council’s Admissions Team.

Liverpool City Council’s Admissions website contains details of how to apply for a place in Year 7

https://liverpool.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/school-admissions/how-to-apply/

The key dates for those students who are due to start secondary school in September 2020 were as followed:

  • You could apply online via the above link from September 12th 2019.
  • The closing date for Year 7 applications was October 31st 2019.

6th Form Open Evening and Admissions

On February 6th 2019, we held our annual 6th Form Open Evening which provided an opportunity for those in Year 11 and perhaps Year 10 to come and have a look at what Calderstones has to offer at post-16. Of course, potential 6th Form students can also come along to the main school Open Evening in September but the February event is specifically targeted at those students who are looking to undertake A-level studies at Calderstones. Admission via In-Year Transfers

From time to time, we do have places become available in the school. If you wish to apply for an ‘In Year Transfer’ to join Calderstones then please click on the link below which will take you to the City Council’s website and the appropriate information and application forms in this regard: https://liverpool.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/school-admissions/
